Btooom! First Half Review

Throwing a double feature in a bit might as well get in before then. Lacking sleep.... feeling tired.... hungry.... just made me think of this anime. Moar games!

Studio: Madhouse
Adapted From: Manga
Genre: Action, Romance
Plot Summary: Ryōta Sakamoto is an unemployed 22-year-old who lives with his mother. In the real world, there may be nothing really special about him, but online, he's one of the world's top players of the combat game called Btooom!.
One day, he awakes in what appears to be a tropical island, though he has no memory of how or why he has come to be there. While wandering around, Ryōta sees someone and calls out for help. The stranger responds by throwing a bomb at him! Now Ryōta realizes both that his life is in danger and that he has somehow been trapped in a real-life version of his favorite game! Will Ryōta be able to survive long enough to figure out how and why he ended up here?

My Review: I gave this one a gamble not knowing about the manga itself. It was mentioned through some of my online friends about it and i gave it a shot to watch. The first episode wasn't really that bad however felt like it dragged on for a bit; however it was the first episode. After the first episode it did give me a interest in the manga so i checked it out. And it got me interested though it was sad they stopped translation process BUT never fear it was picked up again without no fear of english licensing. Lets continue on...

Art Style and Visual Effects:

You can tell this is "Madhouse" style of art. Not a big fan of company much but they are one of the few anime studios that actually put "blood" compare to other anime studios where it gets heavily edited or changed until the dvd/blu-ray is released for an unedited version. Also Madhouse secondary main feature is their choice of anime to adapt where a lot of ppl tend to die.

Their artwork never seems to flatter they are "mad" Just like this anime

Rating: 9/10

Story Setting:

The Story where you play a real life game with the stakes of Life and Death on the line. Seems like a good thrill. The only problem when it comes to action animes; they usually drag for a long time depending how far story is (manga/LN) and how often the studio continues to delay. The manga doesn't seem to be long since the goal of the story is mainly to get off the island and survive. However it can continue into a spin off but lets leave that another day. Hopefully its not 12 episodes... but hard to tell since translations for the manga is up to 51 as of you since someone picked it up again. If you want to see blood and death might what to check this out.

Rating: 8/10

Voice Acting / Music:

Kanata Hongou as Ryōta Sakamoto
Suzuko Mimori as Himiko
Meijin Takanohashi as Takanohashi
Miyuki Sawashiro as Kōsuke Kira
Toru Ohkawa as Kiyoshi Taira
Yūichi Nakamura as Nobutaka Oda

Looks like Kanata Hongou is new to the anime industry. I dont really much complains about the current main voices of this anime. The music inserts for the anime sound good too bad only appears during a battle but i can expect 1-2 music inserts from now on.

Op and Ed are not bad

Opening Theme:
"No Pain, No Game" by Nano
Ending Theme:
"Aozora (Blue Skies)" by May'n

^You can be his guy^ "Lets play a game."

Game/Manga/Light Novel:

I highly recommend reading the manga Btooom Manga if you need an idea on the story. I kinda skimmed the Manga at the moment but ill read from first to last when i get the chance to do it. I got pretty excited that a translator group picked up the manga again since the previous translator group dropped it due to English Licensing and they are really picky on it but i won't complain since they do most of the translation which i could understand at least. Note: If you read the manga you'll discover episode 2 of the anime appears around chapter 30 or so. Its like a special chapter i think.... but im going through memory.

Rating: 10/10

Personal Opinion:

Even though i have to read the manga it really did spark my interest to go further into this manga/anime. Usually there are very few action type manga/animes i like... lesson learn if you like(d) Bleach/Naruto etc. However i don't have a problem with them just too many fillers and story still never ending.

Remember this is only based on what i think... when it comes to the end will either be highly approved or a disappointment. Cause at this moment i'll feel disappointed if its only 12 episodes says "ANN' Btooom ANN

Rating: 10/10

Overall Ratting: 9/10

(dunno if i did the right math on overall...dazing out pretty much)

Another one after this... Hayate no Gotoku! Can't take my eyes off you Review.
